Be Brave and Close Your Eyes
In a recent session with a client, I was reminded of one of the most profound experiences on my spiritual journey. From a deep place of honesty, she said to me, “Sometimes, I am afraid to meditate and go into my inner world.” I replied with a story from my own spiritual journey.
I had just finished reading The Art of Spiritual Peacemaking– a channeled book by James Twyman. The book resonated deeply with me. When I finished the book, I sat down to meditate.
In my meditation, my room filled with a flash of brilliant white light and my heart filled with the most beautiful feeling of unconditional love. My guidance asked me, “Do you know this feeling?” As I focused on the feeling, I replied, "Yes, I do."
It was the same feeling that I had when I looked into my children eyes for the first time, when I looked into my husband’s eyes during our wedding ceremony and when I looked into my father’s eyes in his hospital bed after I had done personal care tasks for him when he was unable to.
It seems that what we are most afraid of prevents us from having what we most desire, unconditional love. The fear of closing our eyes and moving to the inner world is both a fear of abandonment and lack of control. Yet, the result of an inner world practice is not abandonment, but connection.
We have each experienced this form of connection in our personal outer world lives and now, we have the opportunity to experience divine connection in our inner world. Be brave and close your eyes. Let your heart fill with unconditional love and experience the unwavering connection to the Divine.
