A Proud Fool
In reading my clients’ Soul Plans, I have noticed that there is one archetype or personality pattern that is the most common. It may be hard to believe, but the one archetype most common to spiritual seekers is the Fool! Because of the stigma associated with “playing the fool", I was uncomfortable at first, in sharing this archetype with my clients. The Fool is typically portrayed as a human being hiding behind some type of mask.
Throughout the ages, spiritual seekers have had to hide their true identity for fear of persecution and/or abandonment. Speaking to others about their true nature or their Oneness with the Divine has never been popular with spiritual seekers. Whether the seeker was scrutinized by more religious types or the seeker was not ready to reveal their truth, it was always easier to hide.
What would happen if all spiritual seekers removed their masks and spoke their truth? Like the fool, we would communicate profound messages through humor. We would represent what people would like to do or say themselves.
Spiritual seekers should ensure that we do not use humor as a way to mock or betray others. While this does not sound very spiritual, we must consider our use of humor in the various ways that we may use it for our own protection or survival.
In his blog post, The Most Important Character Archetype, Joe Bunting shares, “Using humor while speaking the truth, enables us to experience the kind of innocence and joy we had as children. We are all Fools, and we all wear masks. The Fool invites us—ironically, since they wear them—to take off our masks and live free.”
According to BiddyTarot.com, in the Major Arcana Tarot system, the Fool Tarot card is a card of potential, new beginnings and innocence. This Tarot card shows the highest potential for your life, reaching a state of renewal and new beginnings, where each day is an adventure and each moment is lived to the fullest.
The Fool Tarot card represents the beginning of all creativity and a desire to accomplish new goals (or to, at least, start the process of working towards those goals). The Fool indicates that anything can happen and the opportunities are just waiting to be taken advantage of.
It is time to whip off our masks, be free and speak the truth for our lives. In 2016, it is required that all spiritual seekers hold and be the light. Let this be the year that we proudly put our best face forward in the most authentic and shiny way!
