Walking the Walk with Spirit

This week I was talking to a new client and she said to me, “I am not very spiritual.” I followed up that question, with, “Well, how do you spend your day?” She replied, “Each day, I am blessed to live the life that I held the vision for, living on the beach. I walk the beach in connection to the elements and in deep gratitude for my life. I try to stay focused each moment on what I am doing and find the pleasure in everything, whether it is a task or an enjoyable event.”
After I stopped smiling, I said to her, “I think I am talking to a Spiritual Master.” She further shared that she thought that spiritual people are the ones that talk a good game about spirituality. I told her that while being able to express yourself spiritually is a gift for others, living it every moment is a gift for you.
There are three levels in spirituality that we all must go through if we are truly serious about living a spiritual life, defined as follows:
1. Talking the Talk: This is when you read and study everything you can and you never can stop talking about what you have learned. Driving everyone crazy with your enthusiasm! Keep it up, they are learning to.
2. Walking the Talk: This is when you start applying the spiritual teachings to your life in a consistent manner. You are still driving everyone crazy with your enthusiasm but far less because you are beginning to live your spiritual path more consciously. Now others are thinking, what is happening to you, but they can’t put their finger on it!
3. Walking the Walk: This is when being a spiritual being is who you are. You are fully connected to your own inner divinity and you see the world through the eyes of the Divine. This is when others say to you, “Wow, you look radiant, did you get a new moisturizer?” “Yes”, you say, “It’s called, “Spirit!”
To move from Step 1 to Step 3 takes a deep commitment to peel back the layers of your life to; look at your relationships, resolve your vices, change your eating habits, honor your parents, accept what is and live in the present moment. But most important, to surrender to a knowing that your life is guided by your Soul and therefore, you can relax, appreciate what you have in your life and love yourself.
I am pleased to announce that my second book, Walking the Walk with Spirit… 18 Keys to a Divinely Guided Life will be released this summer. It will include the 18 Keys that Spirit shared with me to live a divinely guided life. The book will include the beautiful nature photography taken by my son, Garrett, for the reader to reflect on as they study each key.
My new client gave me renewed enthusiasm for releasing this book. For after all, who would not want to have the life that she has created. I sure would!
